A Tribute to all Supermoms

I never realized how hard being it is to be a mom, until I became one. The thing is, our mom passed away when I was 8 years old. I was the youngest of six brood and never get to spend that much time to get to know mama.

Then Tita, our stepmom, came along when I was 11. She helped our father raise us. She taught me to love unconditionally, by loving us as her own.

I was blessed to have two wonderful mother. The one who carried with in her belly for 9 months and brought me out into this world, and breastfed me for almost 5 years. And the one who took care of me and raised me to be the woman and a mother I am today.

As a mother, it was an honor to be invited to the launch of SM Supermalls' National Supermom's day.

SM Supermalls Senior Vice President for Marketing, Jonjon San Agustin spearheaded the event with a wonderful remark: " Mother's Day is the best time of the year to thank our mom's for all their dedication and hard work for us. While our moms also look forward to celebrate this day with us, SM's National Supermoms Day is the perfect occasion for the whole family to create many more memories to cherish in the years to come."

They also unveiled Shopmag's May cover and gave us a glimpse of SM's National Supermoms Day - a grand tribute to Supermoms on May 14 through a nationwide Mother's Day celebration in 60 SM malls across the country.

Bing Loyzaga's Journey with Marie France

It was my privilege to be a part of an intimate meet and greet with Bing Loyzaga especially because the event was an intimate interview with Bing. (All photos courtesy of Occasions of Joy ) Bing has had her share of ups and downs when it comes to her weight, especially being in an industry that constantly expects one to look good and be in great shape. So in her late 30s, she had liposuction done on her arms and legs. “When you see yourself in the mirror at home after the procedure, yes you're thin. But when I removed the bandages, I saw myself with cuts and bruises. That's when I cried and felt like I betrayed myself. Sinaktan ko ang sarili ko.” Her daughters Alyssa and Gabby were with her as she recovered, tending her wounds and changing her bandages. “After I had the procedure done, my daughters made me promise not to go under the knife again.” Unfortunately, she gained back the weight.
