Lock&Lock's "National Pa-Baon Month"

It took my sister, Ate Joy of www.occasionsofjoy.com long years to persuade me in creating and publishing my own blog. I created several  blog accounts before, but I quickly lost interest in updating it or not really posting anything at all. So this time, I told her I’d be serious and follow her footsteps. After all, she made herself quite famous by blogging just about anything that comes into her mind! Hehehe!

At first, I wasn’t that interested since I was working and does not have the time to really sit down and write something. This time however,  I decided that I will start blogging to maximize my time and keep myself busy since I have stopped working and currently (and proudly!) a stay-at-home mommy since 2014.

Finally last week, I attended global brand Lock&Lock, a leader in food container technology, as they declare June 2016 as their first “National Pa-baon Month”. As a mom, this is very applicable since I have a 5th grader who brings her own baon to school. The launch was held at the Linden Suites last May 28 and we were welcomed by Mr. Raphael Chua, President of Sawasdee Marketing Corporation, distributors of Lock&Lock, familia, Tickles and Nutcase in the country.

The theme of the event is “pa-baon” or as we call today as packed lunch. This topic is relevant since this generation has the highest ratio of both parents working, which means that there is less time for preparing healthy meals for the kids. I must admit that I’m also sometimes guilty of this especially if I have deadlines for projects or simply tinatamad. It’s becoming a norm for parents to just give our kids money to spend on their lunch instead of making sure they eat healthy food at school.  The result is the alarming numbers of overweight or obese children ranging from 5 – 19 years old who are in danger of developing diseases linked with obesity at an early age.

It was eye-opening after a dietician discussed the risks of obesity to our kids. Bento momma added a fun-filled and educational activity for us by teaching us how to prepare an appealing, fast and easy baon or in Japanese term, “bento” for our kids. Our creativity was even tested when we were informed that there would be a prize for the most hello kitty bento look-a-like!

To sum it up, I had the best time attending Lock&Lock’s National Pa-baon Month event. With the quality, design and durability of Lock&Lock, bento making for my daughter and partner has become easier and fun!

Lily's Peanut Butter in Lite Version

I grew up eating Lily's Peanut Butter so I'm happy that there's a lite version now for older people like me.  People are becoming more and more aware of the health value of the things they eat and drink. And by the looks of things, this emphasis on health is becoming more than just a simple fad; health consciousness is here to stay. Lily’s Peanut Butter, already 60 years in the industry, saw this rise in health consciousness, and has adapted accordingly through the peanut butter that has become a staple of many a Filipino household. After more than half a century of winning Filipino palates, Newborn Food Products Inc., the maker of Lily’s Peanut Butter, launched its newest product line, Lily’s Peanut Spread Lite, last August 14 at the Lily’s Lite in the City event, held at the Trinoma Activity Center, Quezon City. The whole-day event, hosted by athlete-turned-celebrity-host Gretchen Ho, actor-model CJ Reyes, and singer-model John Pol Dimaculanga...

Learning Made Extraordinary!

Every school break, we find it hard to look for an interesting summer program where Izhi would be interested in. I tried ballet for her when she was 6, but dancing isn't her first love. We suggested that she try basketball, swimming, theater and so on to no luck.  However, several schools who gave them computer knowledge test, visited us at home and offered a discount for us to enroll Izhi to their basic programming workshop. Apparently, Izhi has achieved high marks on their exams and is offering us a discount upon enrolling. We discussed the matter and decided to decline since we think that she will just forget the lessons since she won't be doing it often. We are looking for something that will bring out the creativity in her. We were invited to a one day free workshop at SparkleLab where we can try their programs. I must say I was impressed! The place was laid-back kinda homey where strange and wonderful things happen. There were Lego's, sewing kits, code, motor...

A Tribute to all Supermoms

I never realized how hard being it is to be a mom, until I became one. The thing is, our mom passed away when I was 8 years old. I was the youngest of six brood and never get to spend that much time to get to know mama. Then Tita, our stepmom, came along when I was 11. She helped our father raise us. She taught me to love unconditionally, by loving us as her own. I was blessed to have two wonderful mother. The one who carried with in her belly for 9 months and brought me out into this world, and breastfed me for almost 5 years. And the one who took care of me and raised me to be the woman and a mother I am today. As a mother, it was an honor to be invited to the launch of SM Supermalls' National Supermom's day.  SM Supermalls Senior Vice President for Marketing, Jonjon San Agustin spearheaded the event with a wonderful remark: " Mother's Day is the best time of the year to thank our mom's for all their dedication and hard ...
