Spring hangover all-year

I didn't know that there are lots of videos in youtube about unboxing or more like cracking eggs with bits of surprises inside. If I had know that these videos would attract many kids, I would have uploaded Izhi's homemade egg-hunting experience a long time ago. I tried looking for online shops who sells these kind of chocolate eggs, and found out that it was unreasonably expensive. Like its P150 for 2 pieces of eggs, and I'm like what! So I did not continue with the purchase, instead I asked Waldy if he can find small eggs in the market with candies inside. Unfortunately, it was out of stock that day.  Last night, we went at Ate Joy's house for Kuya John's birthday dinner, and I told her that Yuri is so into eggs lately because of these videos that he keeps on playing with the marbles egg decorations in their house. Luckily, she saved some of the eggs from their previous egg-hunt and gave it to Yuri. So today, I bought some small toys like cars and motor...

Cakes and Us

I remember ate Joy saying that we need to have separate time for each of our kids. Back then, I didn't really pay too much attention since Izhi is my only child and we spend most of our time together, eating out, playing, watching movie, reading, shopping and the need to catch up on each other is far from our mind. We enjoyed each other's company for 9 years and I love the fact that I gave her all the attention and love that she needs. Enter Yuri in our lives, and the whole story changed.  Our mommy-daughter bonding became less and less because of added responsibility on my side. Being busy all day with my occasional projects, house chores, cooking, my routine task for Yuri, helping her with assignments. Most days, we only have a few minutes to sit and talk about her day. I listen to her when she raves about how productive she was at school, the good things she did, her friends, even when she rants about her classmates that she dislike. These days, going out with her...

Waldy's craving for Batchoy Tagalog

Its been 2 consecutive Saturdays that we're having Batchoy Tagalog for dinner ( and lunch the other day ). Waldy kept bugging me to cook this dish again, as he's been craving for its sabaw.  When you think about this dish or hear the dish name Batchoy, what comes in mind is how complicated it is to cook. I have to thank Google and those Filipino cooking sites for making life easier for me, as I just have to follow every steps and ingredients to make such a dish.  The first time I tasted this dish was in the home of my friend, Coun. Don De Leon of Quezon City. However, I can't remember if he calls the dish the same name as indicated in the net. What's clear to me is that he told me that the formula to make the soup very savory is, he uses a bit of Bagoong isda and kutsai.  What in the world is kutsai? Is it the same as kinchay? What does it look like and why is it so special? These questions are exactly asked by Waldy when I was giving him the list of the in...
